Every year Singapore American School sends all the high school to different places in the world on a 1 week educational trip. We got to explore around the country and go shopping, sight seeing, and we did service projects.
I was able to go to Cambodia. I went with a couple friends but was able to meet a ton of new kids and get to know them. We ate Cambodian food the entire time except for 1 pizza night and that made us all really happy :)
TEMPLES:

AMELIO SCHOOL:
we were able to visit a couple school and play with the kids
it was amazing to see all of the SAS students jump right in and play with them
we taught them a lot of games including down by the banks
and we finished it off with a dance party :)

i could not believe that people actutally lived on the water...it was like lake powell but 3rd world
it was really dirty and sad because all the people were really poor
this is where they went to church...imagine riding a boat to school and church
a TON of little kids were fearless when it came to snakes

we went to the store once and stocked up b/c we ate khmer (cambodian) food the ENTIRE time
what you get when 2 girls share a hotel room and it got messier...
HOUSE BUILDING:
we built 5 houses in 2 day with 19 people

it was so cool to see the families that we gave these houses too
it was a great experience

i got 4 pairs...
not to mention the rest of the stuff i came home with.
this was an amazing trip! i was able to make new friends and see the lives of khmer people. it was a great experience that i will never, ever forget!
That looks like an amazing trip lisel! So proud of you guys for doing such a great service! You are awesome! P.S. That's ridiculous that those kids were holding those snakes! SO WRONG!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! Pretty sure that is the coolest high school trip ever! Ummm...the little girls with the snakes makes me really uncomfortable. What amazing experience you all are having! Love it!
