Lantern Festival

Every year in September, the Mid Autumn festival is celebrated

as a tribute to Chinese Legends

Part of the celebration includes the Lantern Festival

After a last minute invite, we joined the Webb's for an FHE

visit to the Chinese Gardens to see the lanterns.

This year the theme was:

The World of Legends

last time we went it was Hello Kitty,

pretty cheesy, but the girls liked it better

we saw these cute turtles swimming in the water and had no food to feed them
so what did the girls do???
Used it as an excuse to spit their ABC gum in the water,
and boy did those turtles gobble it right up!
hope they didn't choke them to death :(
(sshh...spitting and gum are both illegal)

for a, not so small, admission fee we each got our own lantern

it took some time, but eventually we got them all going

this is the best part, walking through the park with the lit lanterns

a great Chinese philosopher

intently watching the contortionist show

it's crazy what can be done with the human body

it almost felt Christmasy with all the lights-
minus the muggy, hot weather of course!

Not near as many lantern's as a couple years ago, but still a great activity.
