Lisel's project

For 8th grade, the kids have to do a service project and then do a presentation on it.  We had recently heard about families in Cambodia that want to go to the temple, but can't because they don't have the money. Lisel decided to make hair accessories, sell them and then send the money to the branch president in Cambodia to help members get to the temple.

Lisel worked so hard...hours and hours,  and we had a couple FHE's where
we set up an assembly line and all worked together

Our neighborhood has a big garage sale every year so we
figured it would be a good day to do it

and even with the rain, Lis just kept on selling,
her sale became quite the hang out for the
girls in the neighborhood!

 She raised close to $600!!!
Way to go Lis.  The great thing is that this project can double for a personal progress project as well.  I am grateful for school and church programs that are encouraging our teenagers to look outside of themselves, and I am so grateful for a daughter and her sweet friends who are learning that true happiness comes from serving others, and that you can even have a little fun along the way!
